Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.) is a professional degree focused on Ayurveda offered in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Ayurveda is a type of alternative medicine, and the study of Ayurveda is pseudoscientific while the practice can be classified as protoscience or unscientific.
Bachelor of Ayurveda Medical & Surgery (BAMS) is a 5-year-6-month undergraduate program that offers an integrated course and covers a wide range of subjects of traditional Ayurveda and modern medical systems. The program comprises a one-year mandatory internship. Aspirants must have passed class 12 to pursue BAMS studies. After graduating from the Bachelor of Ayurveda Medical & Surgery course, aspirants gain expertise in the field of Ayurveda and Ayurvedic medicine. Aspirants have to appear for the BAMS entrance exam to get admission into the course. Some states conduct their own exams such as KEAM 2022 to grant admission into the programme.
